The inflammation is caused by the immune system targeting the gluten. Generally, the immune system makes antibodies to the gluten. It sees the gluten as being a harmful bacteria, pathogen, or unwelcomed inclusion to the body and switches into a frenzy to get rid of it. Each time the body confronts gluten, which often can be many times daily in the typical American diet, the immune system is activated. This produces persistent inflammation, which leads to chronic disease processes along with a whole host of symptoms.

Gluten prompts our bodies to release a substance called zonulin, that regulates the permeability of the digestive system. Intestinal-lining cells are pried apart by zonulin. Undigested food particles can enter the blood stream. The immune system responds by releasing inflammatory substances. This is known as leaky gut syndrome. Since, impermeability is lowered; minerals, crucial vitamins, and essential nutrients will not be readily absorbed. This can lead to fundamental nutritionary deficiencies. You could think you are consuming and reaping some great benefits of eating healthy foods, however the body is not absorbing as much of the nutrients as you assume.

Another theory and proposed mechanism of how gluten can affect numerous organ systems involves peptidase enzyme called DPP4. If you experience a failure or insufficiency of DPP4, the body cannot efficiently breakdown the proteins in gluten. The immune system can be fooled by molecular mimicry because the undigested protein fragment may be mistaken for a pathogen. Because of this, antibodies are aimed at the protein and can cause damage to tissues in the auto-immune reaction.

The symptoms that non-celiac gluten intolerance can easily provoke can range from joint pain, stress and anxiety, depression, severe headaches, exhaustion, cramps, abdominal discomfort, upset stomach, body aches, rashes, acid reflux, thyroid gland ailments, infertility, etc. As you can understand these types of symptoms are so broad and can end up being associated with several sickness processes. This is how the matter lies in the healthcare community recognizing this sensitivity as a serious medical condition. Given that, medicine is largely dedicated to symptom relief; virtually all treatment for these types of indicators are concentrated on pharmacology rather than potential nutritional causative factors.

The best way to check for non-celiac gluten intolerance is through muscle testing or blood testing for IgG and IgA. In my personal experience, I have muscle tested many people who have been blood tested for gluten sensitivity and have been told that they do not have gluten intolerance, and they show up as sensitive to gluten with the muscle test. This is probably not a life-long intolerance with there being approaches to change how the body reacts to gluten. One way is through testing for the right digestive enzyme that will enable the gluten to become broken down correctly. Typically, my patients have to be off gluten for six months if not longer and when they are consuming corrective nutritionary supplements their bodies can easily heal and accept gluten at some point.

There is also a desensitization process that I use to help the body to not respond to gluten in the same way. When gluten intolerance is determined, a person will have to keep from consuming even small quantities of gluten. The person will begin feeling better in about one week. Your body is so resilient and has an inborn power to heal itself, when the stressor has been removed. If a person reintroduces the gluten right after being gluten free, without having enzymatic support or a desensitization technique, their symptoms will certainly return.

Grains have only been in our diet for approximately the last 15,000 years or so. There exists formidable proof that 15,000 years ago humans subsisted generally on fresh vegetables as well as meats. This isn't much time in our two million year history. Approximately 30 percent of northern Europeans, those that lived furthest from the origination of eating grains in Mesopotamia, have the genes for gluten intolerance. 99 percent of our genetic makeup was already in position before we began eating whole grains. As a result some people are unable to manage gluten, which is the protein in most grains. Nowadays, as much as 90 percent of the protein in wheat is gluten, a 10 times increase in the past century. The typical American eats 150 pounds of wheat annually.

Grains that do not consist of gluten will be rice, quinoa, buckwheat, millet, amaranth, teff, sorghum, wild rice, and corn. Anyone may test by fully getting rid of gluten from your diet for two weeks and replace it with a few of these alternatives.

Various other significant food intolerances include soy products, dairy, and corn, but an individual can always be sensitive to anything. What one individual is sensitive to, another person could be okay eating. The majority of these kinds of sensitivities depend on genetic factors. One of the main reasons someone feels so energetic when doing a detoxification is that they may be away from their particular major food sensitivity, such as wheat or grain or dairy products.

About the Author:

Discover more about Muscle Testing as well as options for food and gluten Intolerance by going to well known NYC Chiropractor, Dr. Louis Granier's website.

High Protein Diets and Their Effects On Diabetics

by Jim Duffy

If you are a diabetic, you know the importance of eating a healthy, well-balanced diet. In fact, diet plays a very important role in the treatment of diabetes, not to mention a host of other illnesses including heart disease and cancer.

Patients with Type II diabetes have high and varied blood glucose levels, which must be regulated, either by insulin shots or, if you are one of the luckier ones, through a specialized diet plan. Studies have shown that a diabetic's diet should consist of the following: 30% fat (10% monounsaturated, 10% polyunsaturated and 10% saturated), 55% carbohydrates (a lot of starchy foods), and 15% protein. These numbers are recommended by the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association and the American Cancer Society.

Some diabetics need to follow a diet that is even higher in protein, with as much as 30 to 40% of the daily caloric intake being from protein. People who are on these high protein diets must make sure that they are eating the right high protein foods, such as lean meat, white meat chicken, turkey and fish, to ensure that they don't gain weight. In fact, diabetics may want to avoid red meat as much as possible because it can create insulin resistance.

It has been proven that high protein diets are good for diabetics, and in September 2004, Diabetes Magazine stated that low-carb, high protein diets help to control blood sugar levels and, in some cases, actually lowers these levels.

What Kinds Of Proteins Should Be Included In A Diabetic Diet?

When you are diagnosed with Type II diabetes, you may think that you will not be able to enjoy any good food again. This could not be further from the truth. Yes, you will have to watch what you eat and stick to a fairly rigid diet, but there are all kinds of delicious foods that you can incorporate into your diet.

You may have heard that you can't have any snacks between meals, but this is also a myth. Actually, you need to eat several times per day, and if you want a protein-rich snack that won't pack on the pounds, enjoy a small handful of unsalted peanuts or almonds. They taste great and are loaded with protein. Like nuts, all kinds of beans are protein-rich, so go ahead and enjoy some home-baked beans once in a while.

No matter how much protein and other nutrients are in them, diabetics need to avoid processed foods. Not only are they usually loaded with unnecessary salt, many contain saturated and trans-fats, which have negative effects on people trying to treat their diabetes.

You can get many of the proteins you need in your diet from whole grains, eggs, cheese and other milk products, peas and more. These foods all taste great and, unlike carbohydrates, they do not have any effect on your blood glucose levels.

Protein Supplements and Diabetic Diets

Many diabetics who need more protein in their diets opt to use protein supplements. These come in many forms, and can be used as meal replacements and to generate energy throughout the day when needed. Many diabetics who are worried that they will gain weight eating a high-protein diet find that using protein supplements provides the protein they need without the fat, carbohydrates and calories.

Popular types of protein supplements include:

Liquid Protein Supplements - These can either stand alone or be added into shakes and smoothies. They are readily available in health food and many department stores, and many come in a portable form, so they make great take-along meal replacements if you are too busy to sit down and eat a meal.

Protein Powders - These are one of the most versatile forms of protein supplements. They are available in a number of flavors and can be mixed into delicious smoothies and shakes. Protein powders are available in fruit punch, chocolate, vanilla and several other flavors. You can also get flavorless protein powders, which can easily be incorporated into most of your favorite recipes.

Protein Shots - These are terrific little shots of protein, each containing 25-30 grams of protein per shot. They are small and portable, and come in a number of delicious flavors, including sour apple, grape, raspberry and lime.

What Are Protein Supplements Made From?

There are many sources of protein used in protein supplements, but the most popular are whey, casein, soy, rice and egg proteins.

Whey Protein - This is an extremely popular type of protein because it is easily and quickly digested. Whey protein provides immediate muscle recovery effects following workouts. It is a byproduct of the cheese-making process, so people who are lactose intolerant should avoid it.

Casein Protein - This is another milk-derived protein. In fact, it is what whey comes from in the cheese-making process. Casein is slower to digest than whey, but its effects last longer. Casein is a complete protein, and there have even been some lactose intolerant people who have reported being able to easily digest casein protein without any reactions.

Soy Protein - Soy protein is the best choice for people with allergies, as well as for people who are lactose intolerant. It is vegetable based, and is considered to be an ideal source of protein for everyone, including vegetarians. Soy protein is what is known as a complete protein and is used in a number of protein supplements.

Rice Protein - Rice protein is low in carbohydrates, fat and sugar, and is gluten-free, so it is a good product for people who are unable to digest wheat products. It is also popular with vegetarians, and because it has little flavor, it is great to use in many recipes, smoothies and shakes. Rice protein is another type that is considered to be a complete protein since it has all of the essential and non-essential amino acids.

Egg Protein - Protein supplements made from egg protein have been popular for many years and can also be used in a number of delicious recipes. This is not a protein for people with allergies to eggs or poultry.

About the Author:

Protica Research (Protica, Inc.) specializes in the development of Capsulized Foods. Tough cases come to pass brought by the wrong decisions we often do. But each of us has our own different ways to cope up with it. Usually, we initiate ways to cheer up in moving on. Sometimes, we divert ourselves into activities that make our body active despite desperate situations. These are good signs of healthy coping styles towards problems and challenges in life.

Here are few suggestions to make use of exercise in stretching up your muscles so as to keep the heart pumping despite unhappy life situations:

*	Walk A Mile

Walking is an effective exercise beneficial to physical fitness and health. It's not just good for the body but it helps to put off depressive atmosphere. If you feel down, take your dog with you while you walk around parks, beaches or anywhere. You might even get acquainted with other people around the place and get yourself away from being lonely.

* Take A Ride

Most men own a bicycle which they can use for sports, transportation or exercise. Though not all men are regular cyclist but in general, cycling up your bike is one of best exercises which promote cardiovascular health and bone density. Bicycling or biking is also an advantageous hobby or diversion. But be careful not to injure yourself along the streets.

*	Take a Leap

Another best exercise is jumping which makes the body exert effort to leap up. Using jumping ropes is effective way to give out sweet and liveliness. However, these are heavy work-outs that are not suitable for older people. Jumping is one good means in discharging few destructive sentiments away from your body and out of your heart.

*	Running

Running is typically practiced to burn out fats, loose weight and stay fit. Most people love to jog around the neighborhood every morning or every weekend to exercise. Like all other forms of regular exercises, running improves the cardiovascular and respiratory health, reduces total blood cholesterol, strengthens of bones and refreshes a person's physical and emotional state. Take any of these exercises as part of your routine.

Think of your miseries as cases that lead you to a better approach in life and in health. Take care of your body as much as you take care of your heart.

About the Author:

To learn more about Burn Xtreme visit The Burn Xtreme Website!

Drop These 5 Ingredients From Your Diet And Become Healthier

by Paul Atkins

A starting step to take in the right direction for anyone who is determined about their diet program or workout routines to be successful is taking a serious look at the types of foods they eat and the ingredients those foods contain. To get the best results from your exercising and dieting programs you need to eliminate anything that can slow your progress down. What this means is that you will have to remove items from your daily eating rituals that have the potential for harming your progress. This will lead to your body becoming efficient and freer allowing it to fight fat and build muscle. For now to keep things simple let us focus on five foods and ingredients that must be eliminated in order for you to fully reach your fitness goals and accomplish what you set out to do.

Refined Sugars: For those that don't know what the term refined sugars means just think of plain old white Dixie crystals from your local grocery store. In addition to white sugar would be, high fructose corn syrup, sucrose, sucralose, Splenda and pretty much everything else that calls itself sugar yet doesn't come from fruit but rather a factory. Why these refined sugars are so bad for us is because they're harmful to the metabolism. They can also negatively affect your insulin levels as well as your mood and emotions. Eliminating refined sugars from the food that you eat will take a lot of work and reading of many labels. Because most of the food that we eat found in the typical grocery stores of today contain these kinds of refined sugars you must be choosy with your food and do some homework.

Alcohol: Please note that although alcohol in a general needs to be eliminated not all alcoholic cocktails are bad for you. More than likely at some point during your workout program or diet plan you will feel it to be necessary to have a drink, if you do so just make sure it's the right kind of drink. When speaking about eliminating alcohol from your diet this is in a general sense because alcohol carries empty calories just like processed sugars. The raw numbers tell the tale when you consider the fact that alcohol carries about 7 calories per gram you can begin to see why it should be avoided entirely.

Alcoholic beverages do not hydrate you but rather dehydrate you which slows down your recovery time and can hinder the growth of lean muscle mass. Even though many consider alcohol to be a stimulant it is actually a depressant which negatively impacts your metabolism slowing it down and hindering your body from becoming efficient at burning fat. When it's all said and done eliminating alcohol from your diet will help to promote a body that grows muscle and burns fat, exactly what you need in order to accomplish your weight loss goals and fitness workout routines.

Caffeine. The use of caffeine on a daily basis can be a very touchy subject to many people. Especially when you consider that you might need to cut out coffee. Other than coffee most caffeinated drinks should be eliminated from the diet of anyone who is engaging in a serious workout routine or diet plan. The reason for this is because caffeine in general can affect your body so as to inhibit the growth of lean muscle mass. Not to mention it can also affect the amount of rest you get on a nightly basis again adding to the negative effect of muscle growth during your body's recovery time.

Eliminate Anything That Has A Butt: Yes getting rid of anything that has a butt is a good idea. Good old-fashioned lean meats and proteins that came from animals decades ago never contained the junk that they contain today. We live in a world where our meat is processed and injected with all kinds of hormones, antibiotics, and artificial ingredients. When the processing of these meats is finished and the end result is delivered to you you're given basically a useless piece of protein. For the meat lovers out there this may not be good news but facts are facts and vegetarian sources of protein like beans or tofu or nuts can prove to be beneficial.

Gluten: Eliminating gluten from your diet will result in a diet that is healthier and one that lends itself to receiving the benefits from exercise and eating right. Similar to many other ingredients in our food today gluten does not occur naturally in the world but was created in a lab to increase the taste and texture of many foods as well as increase profitability. For those that don't know, gluten is a protein that actually comes from grain and seems to show up in just as many of our food products as does high fructose corn syrup. Why gluten is named what it is is because it comes from the Latin word for glue. Gluten does have a gluing effect to the products that contain it allowing our breads to be softer and more moist.

When considering what a healthy nutritious diet would contain you probably would never add glue to that diet. So why on earth would you eat foods that contain a main ingredient whose name is derived from the Latin word glue? The simple answer is you wouldn't. There are millions of people out there that are forced to cut gluten from their diets because they are allergic to it, yet for everyone else you would be wise to follow that same course. Finding foods that do not contain gluten is not too difficult, but if you need a little help select foods that contain millet, amaranth, quinoa, or oats and you will be just fine.

A body free from any one of these ingredients much less all five of them is a body that is free from what has been keeping it in a sluggish inefficient non-fat fighting state. When you take time to remove the bad only the good remains. A diet that is rich in fruit and vegetables that are fresh whole grains that are free from harmful ingredients you provide your body with the fuel it needs to deliver the results you are looking for.

About the Author:

Dumping foods and ingredients that harm your body goes a long way in helping you maximize the results of your work out routines and weight loss programs. This means that it is somehow going to be hard on our child. So, to make it easier, we have looked at one situation that some parents struggle with. This is children and a gluten free diet. This is hard to do when you think of all the things that a normal kid is supposed to eat. So, here are a few tips to make the transition a lot easier.

The first thing that you need to remember is that children know when they are different. It might be a slight difference, but any difference can make a child feel out of place. This is especially true when they do not know what is going on. That is why you as the parent needs to educate them. You need to teach them about the foods that they can consume and the ones that they need to stay away from.

This might mean you have to make some adjustments as well. You might need to hide the stuff with gluten from them. They might want to rebel a little or think that it cannot hurt them even though you have had the talk. It might even mean planning your meals out ahead of time. IT might mean you have to make the decision if you are going to cook one meal that hat everyone eats or two.

When you have a discussion with your child as to what he or she can and cannot have, you might need to show them. This is fine. How much information or what sort of discussion you have depends on the age. If they are older, they might have a few questions that you'll need to answer.

The best way to treat children like this is to make the things that they like. Just find a way to make it gluten free. Some of the more easier dishes that they like to eat are spaghetti and things of that nature. They will find that if they cannot eat the foods of other children, then there really is a difference.

The foods that were gluten free in the past used to taste like junk. Children knew right off the bat it was different. As more studies are done, they are making gluten free to taste like the all natural with gluten food. This is good news for parents.

Another thing to remember is that when children are around their family and friends no matter where it be, they want to eat the same thing. This is why if you are going to have something for dinner, you need to include them in it. Find a way to make it gluten free so that they can eat the same thing. They will appreciate this.

When you do these things, you help your child all the way around. A child is very vulnerable at that age. Any age as a child can be vulnerable. When you throw in a different diet into the mix that makes them stand out it can be very hard. Allowing the child to help make his or her own meal as well as giving them a card for those who might not know of their condition can help them steer away from gluten. - 29773

About the Author:

Looking for diet menus gluten free? If a person with this disease eats foods containing gluten, it causes damage to the small intestine and it does not properly absorb the food. The smallest amount of gluten can cause health issues. There is protein in certain grains that are harmful to a person with this condition. This is found in wheat, barley and rye so those with celiac disease cannot eat these foods. They will have to change their style of eating to gluten free cooking.

Celiac disease is hard to diagnose. In some cases, symptoms of the condition may never surface, other cases symptoms may surface because of a pregnancy or surgery. Cases have gone undiagnosed because the symptoms are not noticeable. Sometimes a family member was diagnosed because their condition was severe then other members of the family can be tested because it is genetically inherited. If you have been diagnosed, it is time to change your eating style.

If your doctor diagnosed you with this condition, they also told you to change your eating habits. There are certain foods that need to be avoided which include breads, pizza, cakes and much more. However, once you have some time in gluten free cooking under your belt, it is become easier and easier that you won't be bothered by the change.

Changing your eating style may be frightening. You may think you won't be able to cook gluten free foods but once you gain some experience gluten free cooking will not be a big deal. The key is to keep it simple when cooking foods with no gluten

If you have to change your eating habits to help your condition, you may need to learn about grains and starches, which ones are safe and which ones are not. What you have to do is substitute gluten free grains for barley, wheat, rye, etc. For example, one way in keeping it simple is to constantly have gluten-free baking and pancake mix in your cupboards. This is because you can always make an instant flour blend to prepare for a meal. You can use this mix to thicken soups and sauces; meals such as pizza, bread can be made using baking mix.

Those living with celiac disease should pay special attention when grocery shopping to the labels on the food products. They should also stay away from processed food. With all the food that contains gluten ingredients, so contacting the manufacturing company is in your best interest if you are not sure about foods being gluten free.

When learning gluten free cooking, keeping a cookbook on hand for some ideas when making meals can help you find new meals you like. A local library should have books available. Going online is another way to find some recipes, be sure however, the website is reputable.

It is not the end of the world if you are diagnosed with celiac disease. There are a few adjustments to be made, one being gluten free cooking, so your body can heal. You can still go eat at restaurants, the menu selection may be smaller, but you still have options. This is a minor change to help your body function properly. - 29773

About the Author:

Visit our site for free information on soy flour recipes gluten free.

Gluten Free Foods Are Essential For The Health Of The Gluten Intolerant

By Kathryn Barry

Gluten free foods are popping up everywhere and it's becoming easier and easier to find breads, desserts, etc. that are made from gluten free grains.

What's so Wrong with Gluten?

Gluten is a natural protein that is found in wheat, barley, and rye.

Your digestive system has a very hard time digesting gluten because of its large size. It is one of the most complicated proteins known to mankind.

Problems will occur in your small intestine once gluten arrives.

For the gluten intolerant, gluten can wreck havoc on your health by ripping holes in the lining of your system. This can create leaky gut syndrome and pretty serious allergic reactions from your immune system.

This intestinal damage will weaken your ability to absorb essential nutrients from your food which will then lead to malnutrition and later to more serious health problems like a full blown disease.

Some of your favorite grains do not contain gluten such as corn, rice, and pure oats. Some of the more exotic gluten free grains are quinoa, buckwheat, millet, teff, and amaranth.

Grains that contain gluten are wheat, barley, rye, and cross contaminated oats.

Wheat gluten grains include spelt, wheat bran, wheat germ, wheat berry, triticale, couscous, durham, bulgar, farina, semolina, einkorn, farro, graham, udon, seitan, wheat grass and matza.

What are Common Gluten Intolerance Symptoms You can Spot?

Symptoms to watch for after consuming gluten would be discomforts such as gas, bloating, diarrhea and constipation. Watch for fat in your stools, cramps, aching joints, tingling and numbness, headaches, rash, itchy skin, and irritability. Longer term conditions could include irregular menstrual cycles, slowed child development, weight gain or weight loss, depression, and nutritional deficiencies.

Gliadin which is a protein found in gluten can trigger a full on immune system response in people with Celiac disease whenever gluten is consumed. People with Celiac disease are very gluten intolerant.

The inflammation created by this protein will interfere with your small intestine's ability to function and absorb nutrients. The lining of your small intestine will be flattened from your immune system's response to this protein.

This is a fairly common disease and will usually be found with other family members. Continuing with the consumption of gluten while having this disease could create even more diseases.

A strict gluten free diet is the only way you can fix this disease.

A Very Promising Gluten Free Grain is Quinoa

You'll find lysine in quinoa which is a amino acid and quinoa is also higher in protein than most grains.

Usually grains do not have this important amino acid.

Lysine aids in the building of muscle tissue and the absorption of calcium.

Lysine also helps in the production of enzymes and hormones.

Because quinoa contains all eight of the essential amino acids, it is considered a complete protein food.

Gluten Free Food Basics

Gluten free desserts are easier to make than in the past. There are quite a lot of gluten free flours and gluten free cookbooks available. There are also desserts like chocolate and ice cream that naturally do not contain any gluten, but always check the label.

Gluten free foods that come to you from nature are fruits, vegetables, nuts, beans, eggs, whole dairy products, animal meats, fish and seafood.

Trying to avoid gluten in your diet, is like trying to avoid aging. You must be on the ball at all times and read every label as most processed foods contain gluten in disguise. - 29773

About the Author:

For more information from this author about this topic, check out Gluten Free Foods. Here is information on what types of personal information we receive and collect when you use and visit this website, and how we safeguard your information. We never sell your personal information to third parties.

Log Files
As with most other websites, we collect and use the data contained in log files. The information in the log files include your IP (internet protocol) address, your ISP (internet service provider, such as AOL or Shaw Cable), the browser you used to visit our site (such as Internet Explorer or Firefox), the time you visited our site and which pages you visited throughout our site.

Cookies and Web Beacons
We do use cookies to store information, such as your personal preferences when you visit our site. This could include only showing you a popup once in your visit, or the ability to login to some of our features, such as forums.

We also use third party advertisements on this website to support our site. Some of these advertisers may use technology such as cookies and web beacons when they advertise on our site, which will also send these advertisers (such as Google through the Google AdSense program) information including your IP address, your ISP , the browser you used to visit our site, and in some cases, whether you have Flash installed. This is generally used for geotargeting purposes (showing New York real estate ads to someone in New York, for example) or showing certain ads based on specific sites visited (such as showing cooking ads to someone who frequents cooking sites).

DoubleClick DART cookies
We also may use DART cookies for ad serving through Google’s DoubleClick, which places a cookie on your computer when you are browsing the web and visit a site using DoubleClick advertising (including some Google AdSense advertisements). This cookie is used to serve ads specific to you and your interests (”interest based targeting”). The ads served will be targeted based on your previous browsing history (For example, if you have been viewing sites about visiting Las Vegas, you may see Las Vegas hotel advertisements when viewing a non-related site, such as on a site about hockey). DART uses “non personally identifiable information”. It does NOT track personal information about you, such as your name, email address, physical address, telephone number, social security numbers, bank account numbers or credit card numbers. You can opt-out of this ad serving on all sites using this advertising by visiting http://www.doubleclick.com/privacy/dart_adserving.aspx

You can choose to disable or selectively turn off our cookies or third-party cookies in your browser settings, or by managing preferences in programs such as Norton Internet Security. However, this can affect how you are able to interact with our site as well as other websites. This could include the inability to login to services or programs, such as logging into forums or accounts.

Deleting cookies does not mean you are permanently opted out of any advertising program. Unless you have settings that disallow cookies, the next time you visit a site running the advertisements, a new cookie will be added.
